  • BikeTexas is the statewide bicycle organization whose mission is advancing bicycle access, safety and education.  BikeTexas operates a number of programs to achieve this mission.
  • League of American Bicyclists is a nation-wide bicycle organization whose mission is to promote bicycling for fun, fitness and transportation and work through advocacy and education for a bicycle-friendly America.
  • Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC) is a national clearinghouse for information about health and safety, engineering, advocacy, education, enforcement, access, and mobility for pedestrians (including transit users) and bicyclists. The PBIC serves anyone interested in pedestrian and bicycle issues, including planners, engineers, private citizens, advocates, educators, police enforcement, and the health community.

  • BikeTexas Resources provide information for Safe Routes to School and other effective cycling in the community.
  • Active Living Resource Center is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to promote bicycling and other active living pursuits in American communities.
  • Adventure Cyclist carries news of multi-day bicycle touring including the U.S. touring route network with the “Southern Tier” route that runs across Texas from El Paso to near Beaumont, published monthly.
  • National Center for Safe Routes to School provides steps to enable community leaders, schools and parents across the United States to improve safety and encourage more children, including children with disabilities, to safely walk and bicycle to school.
  • Sustrans is the UK’s leading non-profit for sustainable transportation. Their website has a comprehensive guide to technical aspects of bike infrastructure design as well as best practices for implementing these improvements.

  MEGAZINES, NEWSLETTERS AND PUBLICATIONS

  • American Bicyclist is the League of American Bicyclists’ magazine with topics such as Bike Friendly Communities, six issues annually.
  • IMBA Trail News is the quarterly magazine of the International Mountain Bicycling Association covering news of off-road trails nationally and abroad.
  • Rails to Trails is the quarterly publication for a celebration of trails.
